Pat Cummins stated that the playing conditions in Dharamshala are a bit different than other venues. — AFPAustralian cricket team captain Pat Cummins is geared up to take on New Zealand in the 27th match of the ICC World Cup 2023 in Dharamshala, India, on Saturday.Australia were off to a shambolic start in the World Cup with two defeats in the first two matches but the five-time World Champion bounced back and won three consecutive matches and Cummins is insistent on keeping the winning streak alive.
Speaking at a presser ahead of the important match on Friday, Cummins stated that the Aussies have played with New Zealand a lot of times but this makes them want to beat the Black Caps even more."Most of the Kiwis are pretty placid. We're pretty similar. We've played a lot of cricket with these guys, some of these guys are really good mates with our players. If anything, it makes you want to beat your mates even more. It will be intense out there," Cummins said.Cummins then talked about the conditions and the playing time, which will be 10:30 in the morning, and said it feels like a Test match to get up early in the morning and play."It feels a bit more like a Test match, getting up in the morning and turning up here. A bit different to what we've been used to. It's a new venue, you've got to assess when you're out there what you think is going to be a good score," he added. The 30-year-old then emphasised that his side would need to be extra careful on Dharamshala's outfield saying that it's a bit different than the other venues."It might not be a 400-run innings. It’s probably a ground we've got to be extra careful. It's a bit different to a lot of the other venues that we play at. But it's fine. It's the same for both teams. Maybe just be a little bit more careful out in the field, and you might have to wear a couple on the body, but that's fine."It must be noted that Australia beat the Netherlands by 309 runs in their last World Cup match in Delhi, which was the highest-ever win in the history of the mega event.
